Hell On The Humber 12 Hour Endurance Race · 20 August 2022

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks everyone for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have a personal and professional interest in Dementia and want to help raise vital funds for additional Admiral Nurses to support people living with Dementia and their care partners.

I hate running and I have gotten very unfit since the pandemic! But I plan to run/walk for 12 hours - 7pm to 7am - back and forth over the Humber Bridge and cover as many miles as possible in the hope that people will feel encouraged to make a donation of any size to Dementia UK. I will also be wearing/carrying a 20kg weighted pack because i thought 12 hours of that bridge was too easy ;)

I have seen first hand some of the challenges people with dementia may face. But I also know that with the right support, people can live a fulfilled and happy life with dementia.

If you are someone who is worried about any changes you may have noticed in yourself (or that others have noticed) - not just memory loss - see your GP. Early diagnosis means early help!

Finally, a huge thankyou to everyone who continues to inspire me every day x
