Story
Hello! Huuuuugest thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)
For the last year I have sat on my backside and promised myself that I will take up running...a year has passed and my only running encounter revolved around a treadmill at the gym and I ended up with a grazed knee. Such a woeful experience thoroughly put me off gym based running and by that point it was cold and wet and very wintery outside.
So, we reach January, and a whole new year and I thought that maybe an event would help with my running dreams...so I went ahead and signed up to the Bournemouth 10k in October. 10 months is going to be enough time to train, right?
Anyone that knows me is well aware of my detest for running...or even jogging for that matter. I would run (very unhappily) for my life, and that is just about it. Every time I hear the 'r' word I have horrible flash backs of Cross Country at school and the paralysing fear that I may cough up a lung. That said, I have always admired those that can run...and I figured it's never too late to give something a go...so here I am, giving it a (proper!) go!
It may take me hours and hours and hours to complete 10k, however I will complete it, come hell or high water! This is very much out of my comfort zone, so I figured I'd raise some money for a worthy charity along the way. All donations will go to the wonderful team at the MS Society - a charity that is very close to mine and my family's heart, as my Dad has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for the last 25 years. All donations will be gratefully received by myself and the charity (having your charitable support really will give me a boost!). Oh, and if you are a UK Taxpayer make sure you gift aid your donation so those government folk give the MS Society the extra tax on your generous and much appreciated donation.
Now, where's that Couch to 5k app...
