Easter 50 Ultra Challenge 50 · 1 April 2023 ·
Following on from last years madness, to continue to push myself to raise money for Challengers, the step up from marathon to Ultra was perhaps logical if being far from easy for me. And it's a big jump for Suz who is joining me step by step this year.
Together, starting at Windsor Racecourse we are going to head out on a looped route through the Great Park, take on quite a large hill (!!), onto Runnymede, heading back and taking on the second half including Dorney Lake and Eton Wick before heading back to base camp.
50km, 320m elevation, and around 68,000 each steps I recon. We have little legs.
Now for the most important bit - the why are we doing it?
Did you know 84% of disabled children go without regular access to play? Challengers works to change this by making it possible for any child, with any impairment, to access play opportunities. As well as being fun it helps them to develop vital skills such as confidence, co-ordination and communication.
One of our Mum's told me " the veneer of family can sometimes wear very thin. Even families that look as if they are coping are often fracturing beneath the surface" - which is why Challengers work which provides vital short breaks to families who are often exhausted from the demands of caring so important.
Thank you for reading and we hope you consider supporting.
