A 125 mile non-stop paddle in a 2 man kayak · 4 April 2015

The Royal Signals Charity supports Regular, Retired and Reserve Signallers. We do this by providing benevolence grants to those facing distress or hardship. We support our community through grants that look to encourage comradery, corps history and education of our trades.

Story

Nick Pope and Phil White are planning to paddle a 2 man kayak non-stop from Devizes to Westminster (125 miles) on Easter weekend.  It will entail 24hrs non stop paddling, burn an estimated 30,000 calories and require 110,000 'paddles'!

We have been training hard since September last year, including quite a bit of time spent in the water!  Hopefully we are past that stage now - we completed our final warm up race on Sunday 22 March, paddling from Devizes to Newbury (35 miles) in 6 hours 26...with 90 miles still to go.  We now realise what a massive undertaking it is!

The Royal Signals Benelovent Fund will really value your support, as do Phil and I - it will make all the difference, keeping us going in the small hours of Easter Sunday morning!  Thank you.
