Geoff's TGO Challenge page

TGO Challenge · 8 May 2015
Thanks for taking the time to visit my revised Just Giving page. You will recall that I decided to enter The TGO Challenge as a Challenge for myself. In July last year we rescued a Boxer dog named Ben with the help of Boxer Rescue Service (Southern). I was so impressed by the work that these good folk do to help animals like Ben, that I wanted to help them to rescue other dogs, like Ben and re-home them to give them the chance to be loved and love in return. Ben is such a lovely boy that we are so happy that we gave him the chance to live a normal life and experience everything that some of his less fortunate peers perhaps never will, he is growing into a friendly, relaxed member of our family, he makes every day a joy for us. By helping Boxer Rescue Service (Southern) I hope that it will be possible for more Boxers to be re-homed and enjoy living the normal life they deserve. I hope that you will donate as generously as you can to this most worthy cause. Thank you in anticipation and a much bigger thank you from the Boxers I hope that we can help.
I have now successfully The Great Outdoors Challenge...what's that? Those of you who read my original message will know that it is a self supported annual backpacking event from the west coast of Scotland to the east. (http://www.tgomagazine.co.uk/tgochallenge/ )
I set out from the west coast port of Mallaig on Friday May
8th, crossing to Knoydart by the ferry and then walked to Stonehaven,
Arriving yesterday Wednesday 20th May after
314kms, 7224m of climbing and only three nights in hostels, the
remainder being in my tent. I will then took the bus to the final
checkpoint in Montrose.
While I was walking solo, there were 300 of us
taking part from 13 different starting points and paths crossed and parted as we wandered our way from
coast to coast...through sun and rain across some of the wildest most
remote parts of this wonderful island of ours. It has been easily the toughest thing I have ever undertaken, the weather has done it's best, we have had sunshine and rain, strong winds and frosty nights, but I can say in total honestly that I have enjoyed every moment and want to come back next year. Best of all though has been the knowledge that I was doing it for an outstanding cause, Boxer Rescue Service (Southern). You have given generously for this wonderful cause and I'm confident that those of you who have been waiting to see how I performed will now give generously.
Thank you all for your support.
Geoff.
