I am raising money for the Royal British legion in commemoration of 100 years since the start of WW1. I feel that the charity has been neglected a little recently due to newer charities like help for Heroes, although these are good causes they are limited to more recent conflicts. The RBL extends all the way back to the beginning and also supports the families both financially and emotionally. As an ex service man I have also received help and support from the RBL during some very difficult times of my life, this help enabled me to get my life back on track.

 This is the reason I have decided to make my donations to this charity and set myself the challenge of. Rowing the distance of a channel crossing to France in memory of the Men and women of our armed forces heading off to war and then the distance back to commemorate the return home of the ones who survived the conflict but then had to begin to fight the demons and trauma of everything they had witnessed and suffered. This is when the Royal British legion was formed as a means to help those suffering and there is not a day since when there has not been a veteran or a member of a family receiving help and support.
