We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Why I am taking on this challenge. It was in January 2014 that my son Ian found out that he had Lymphoma cancer. The weekend that he found a lump under his right arm pit, his mum was spending the weekend with him. He didn't say anything to her. Just thought it was his t-shirt had wriggled up. Seeking medical advice he was sent to the hospital in Brighton to have a bi-opsy done. It was confirmed that it was cancer. Treatment started immediately. Over the next 4 months the regime of treatment was very intense. At one point  Ian not having any visitors for 2 weeks because he was so poorly and he didn't want people to see him in that condition. Then in June came the news that neither myself or his mum nor any of the family wanted to hear. The Lymphoma was back and more aggressive than it was in the beginning. Resulting in all chemo treatment being stopped, and the only medication he would be on was pain relief to keep him comfortable. His wish was to be allowed home. To spend the time he had left with his family. This he did with family and a friend of the family spending 24 hours a day with him, giving him the care and love that he deserved after putting up such a courageous fight in his determined effort to beat the cancer. Losing his battle on the 18th June 2014. A life taken far to early. Ian you were a hero going through this period of your life. Rest in peace Son. Love Dad.
