Story

Hello everyone, I am running the Bath Half Marathon on October 16th for Avon Wildlife Trust. After my second knee surgery just weeks before Lockdown 1, this will be my first running event since I re-injured my knee over 3 years ago. Just happy to be running again but also hoping to give it a good go. Please donate if you can afford to do so, I know times are tight, but every little bit helps!

@georgecuckoo to follow along with training and my wildlife photos :)

" The time to act is now.Nature is declining globally at rates unprecedented in human history. Since 1970, we have lost 69% of our wild animals, 50% of all marine wildlife and a staggering 83% of freshwater wildlife. In Avon, the picture is equally bleak for example we have 96% fewer starlings and swifts than we did in the 1990s. The loss of our natural world is rapid, and its accelerating at an alarming rate. The next 10 years are crucial and Avon Wildlife Trust is here to play a vital role in leading the change. By taking on Bath Half 2022 I am running to restore and protect Avon's wildlife for generations to come. And what better place to take on this challenge than Bath as Bath & North East Somerset have declared both a climate and ecological emergency highlighting the need to act now. Please donate generously, thank you!
