Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Why Cancer Research UK
Seeing the look on my dads face after the cancer specialist told him he only had 3 months to live is something that will never leave me. My poor dad didn't even get that long as he passed away just 3 short weeks later.
Last year the emotions came flooding back when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully it was caught early through a routine breast screening and a year on, following an operation and follow up treatment she has now been declared "cancer free"
Cancer affects us all, we all know a family member, friend, work colleague or neighbour who has been touched by this terrible disease.
What Am I Doing To Raise Money
Weighing myself on my return from holiday last month I was the heaviest I have ever been and at the age of 55 was now officially obese. Determined to lose weight and get fit I started a healthy eating plan and joined the gym and 5 weeks on I have lost 22lbs and halfway through the couch to 5k running programme.
So whats the craziest thing a 55 year old, obese, unfit man who can't even run 5k do, that's right I am running the Scottish half marathon (21k) being held on 24th September 2017.
