Story
Just to let you know, we completed the 15 mile Wirral Coastal Walk yesterday (27/5/12) Team Beryl, of 14 strong all helped make it a very special day. I was so proud to have taken part in memory of Beryl, great day, great atmosphere and so many very special people all with their own reasons for walking. Best Wishes George
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page which is in memory of my wife Beryl and to help raise funds for Claire House Hospice
I have found it very difficult to write this page but I must thank everyone though for their support, kind words and generosity in helping to raise a massive £700 for Claire House at Beryl's funeral.
Having visited Claire House with Beryl on a number of occasions, I know how close to her heart it was. I have, therefore, made a promise to Beryl that I will commit to "Pay For A Day" which is an appeal being run by Claire House aimed at finding 365 sponsors, each taking ownership of one day in a year and committing to pay for the running costs at Claire House for that day, that amounts to £6,500. The £700 which was raised at Beryl's funeral is a deposit towards this target. I have chosen Beryl's birthday, 22nd March 2013, as Beryl's Day.
We were not lucky enough to be blessed with children, for some families that very blessing can be a very bitter sweet experience, making life as comfortable and happy for the child and their families is the least we can do. Will you join with me over the next 12 months in trying to raise the additional £5,800 to "Pay For A Day"?
So what can we do, lots is the answer. Whether it's donating the money you might have kindly spent for a card or a gift for Beryl's birthday or at Christmas or perhaps involving your family or work colleagues, a sponsored day of no tea, coffee or alcohol! I'm sure you can be far more imaginative than me in finding ways to raise money in Beryl's memory. It is vital in whatever you do, you take time to remember Beryl, your friend, your relative, a special lady.
The loss of Beryl is very hard to come to terms with; finding a positive at this very sad time is not easy but I know it would be what Beryl would have wanted. I trust I have not caused any offence by asking for your help; if I have please accept my apologies but Beryl's memory and the needs of Claire House mean so much to me.
Thank you again for caring. If you would like to contribute or have any ideas for fundraising, please contact me. If I can do anything to help, just ask.
One of my first fundraising events for Claire House is the Wirral Coastal Walk which is a 13 mile walk from Seacombe Ferry to Thurstaston, On Sunday 27th May - Let me know if you would like to be a member of 'Team Beryl' and show your support on the day but please dig deep and donate now.
