Story
Sadly on the 23rd May 2018 my nephew George was born asleep.
My brother Ryan and his fiance Sapphire were filled with happiness and joy after being told that she was going to be having a baby, and on the 16th of May they were given a date for when she was to have a c section and that date was the 7th of June and they couldn't wait to meet their little boy.
But on Sunday 20th May, Sapphire went to St Mary's Maternity unit after not feeling him kick after breakfast and that's when Ryan and Sapphire sadly found out that George sadly lost his life. Words couldn't describe the heartbreak all of our family were going through, especially Ryan and Sapphire, you just didn't know what to say or do apart from cry with them and to cuddle them!
On 23rd May Sapphire gave birth to George Graham Paul Roberts weighing in at 5lbs 1oz , he was such a beautiful boy!
They had amazing support from St Mary's maternity hospital in Poole and also Spring (supporting parents and relatives in neonatal grief), a charity set up to help those like Ryan and Sapphire that have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy at or just after birth. This includes miscarriage and still birth. Spring supports in a number of ways, through councelling, befriending and during a subsequent pregnancy.
In the immediate days following, Ryan and Sapphire were given the time to create some very special memories with baby George in a private suite away from the post-natal ward. They had invaluable emotional support from a dedicated and lovely bereavement midwife, who was a lifeline for them, who is also helping out with arranging the funeral.
George was just two and half weeks away from being delivered when he sadly died, but Ryan and Sapphire and our entire family have had the chance to spend time, and make some very special memories with baby George, and although he might be not with us anymore, he will be forever be with us when we close our eyes and also when we look up to the sky , our hearts will forever be full of George and there will not be one day that we will ever forget about him!.
So we would like to ask for your support for raising money that is helping Ryan and Sapphire through their darkest days. There aim is to raise £1000 as this is the cost for a temperature mat, but if we can raise more then there are so many more things the money can go to, to help other parents and families likes ours which allowed them to be with George for the 6 days they were in the private suite! And also to give the family's a chance to see him and to say their goodbyes.
Over the coming months we do hope to be holding charity days for the Spring support, one has already been sent up by my Auntie Lisa at Poole Labour Club on the 26th August where there will be a charity raffle and a darts competition.
Thankyou for all your love, support care and kindness!
On behalf of Ryan and Sapphire and all the family Thankyou every penny raised will make a huge difference to this local charity
