Story
Helensburgh’s celebrity cat is teaming up with the Community Advertiser in 2020 to help raise funds for two poignant charities.
George is hoping that local businesses and individuals, as well as his social media followers, will get behind his bid to donate thousands of pounds to the Dementia Resource Centre in Helensburgh, which is run by Alzheimer Scotland, and Cats Protection.
After being abandoned as a youngster, George was given shelter by Cats Protection in Paisley before his Helensburgh owners Elizabeth and Dennis Royal adopted him.
Now George would like to give back to the charity that rescued him. Cats Protection is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray, unwanted or homeless cats and educating people about cats and cat welfare.
George is also aware that Dennis lives with dementia. Jackie Hood, the daughter of Elizabeth and Dennis, said: “Dad suffers from dementia, but he and George get along well and, it’s great to see.”
