Aspire Channel Swim 2017 11/09/17 - 04/12/17 · 4 December 2017 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Two and a half years ago my nan tripped over a kerb stone whilst out shopping. Her fall led to a C3 spinal injury and tetraplegia.

Therefore I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2017, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire.

Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury which can be life changing for both the individual and their family. Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently.

This is a big challenge (especially for me as I can't swim!) but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make, so please be generous!
