Story
Hey,
As some of you may know, I am hoping to go to India in the summer to work with EMC an organisation in India which seeks to help those suffering in Calcutta, one of India's biggest, yet deprived cities. During my time in India I shall be working with children who have been orphaned and live on the streets, helping to provide them with an education so they can rebuild their lives; I will also be working with women and men who are suffering from HIV/AIDs and running groups which help inform people how not to spread the disease. EMC has set up many projects such as the women's project which teaches women skills to create items which can be sold on in order to help them make a living. While I hope to make a difference in Calcutta, I also want the work that I do to continue long after I have left and the only way this can happen is if the charity receives funding, this is why I have set a goal to raise £1000.
Please do not think you are paying for my 'holiday'. Firstly I am paying for all flights and food and secondly I wouldn't exactly call it a holiday, I will spending a month in an India hostel next to one of Indias biggest slums.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about what I am doing and if you can only afford a pound or two that would still be amazing.
God Bless,
Georgia
