Me, my parents and my boyfriend are taking part in a charity obstacle rush on 1st June 2019 to raise money for the Encephalitis Society.

For those of you that don't know, last August at the age of 22, I was diagnosed with Encephalitis. This was something that me, my family and friends had never heard of before and we were so shocked at the devastating effects it can have on peoples lives.

I was in hospital for about a month and during this time everyone was unsure of how the illness would effect me as no encephalitis case is the same. Encephelitis is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed (swollen). It can be life threatening, but due to the fast response from the NHS, we were able to treat the encephalitis quickly.

The road to recovery is an extremely long one and I have had to overcome so much to be where I am today. Encephalitis took so much away from me, in forms of my memory, my senses and my independance as well as so much more that impacted my life.

The Encephalitis Society is a charity that offers so much support, information and advice for people with encephalitis and the people around them. This is why i want to raise money and awareness for the cause that is now so close to my heart so that it can get better known and can help other people too.
