Thank you for your interest in Birmingham Dogs Homes Healing Hearts Appeal. 2021 is a big year for our charity as we start work on building our very own veterinary clinic. Your support is so important for dogs like Teddie and Bentley.

Story

Veterinary care is one of the biggest ongoing costs for BDH. The home care for over 2,500 dogs every year. BDH accept every dog that needs their help, no matter their condition. Many of the dogs that are bought into their care are strays, which means that they are often malnourished, or have suffered some form of neglect or abuse. In 2020, the home spent over £230,000 on essential medical care. The home are a nonprofit organisation, meaning that they do not receive any government funding, therefore, they are entirely reliant on the generosity of the public. By running their own veterinary clinic, this will significantly reduce the cost of vet bills, as well as enabling the home to better manage both emergency cases and the ongoing physical health of the dogs they care for on a daily basis.

Donations of any size will make a BIG difference to the homeless dogs in their care. Here are some examples of how your donation can help

*£8 can pay for antibiotic ointment, gauze wipes and towels

*£44 can pay for an IV fluid stand

*£97 can pay for a stretcher trolley

So, with all this being said, what are we going to do to help contribute towards the veterinary clinic? We will be taking on the mighty Snowdon on Saturday 25th September 2021! Ever since rescuing our beloved Buster from BDH in September 2018, we have always set up fundraisers for the home via Buster's Instagram page as a way of saying thank you to the home for bringing Buster into our lives, as well as saying a big thank you for the hard work that they do, day in and day out. We know just how important this veterinary clinic will be for the home, and we would love to be involved in the fundraising process of it all.

*FYI - As much as we would have loved for our Buster to be involved in the trek, this just isn't safe with his stiff joints since his leg operation in 2019, but he will be having lots of fun with his Nanny & Gramps whilst he waits for us to come home*

Updates and fundraising raffles will be posted via our Instagram pages
