Great North Swim 10km to help Elswick Pool Reopen

Great North Swim 2019 · 7 June 2019 to 9 June 2019 ·
Drowning is still the third most common cause of accidental death in children in the UK and 1 in 3 children leave Primary School unable to swim 25m.
Swimming is a lifesaving skill and everyone should have the opportunity to learn.
Elswick Pool was closed by Newcastle City Council in 2015 due to budget cuts.
Friends of Elswick Pool have been supported through funding by Power to Change, but have also started a campaign to raise £100,000 in order to get the pool reopen. This will help cover staff costs, job creation, utility bills, improved facilities and installing security systems.
It is SO important that facilties like Elswick Pool reopen and stay open. I have worked with ITV's Fixers to highlight the importance of children learning to swim- you can see my video from ITV Tyne Tees News here:

I learnt to swim when I was 4 years old- because my parents were aware of the importance of learning to swim. I am now a qualified swimming teacher and so am very passionate about swimming, as a sport, a recreational activity and as a lifesaving skill.
Please donate anything you can to help give back a much loved swimming pool to a community in the North East and potentially save the lives of the people who can learn to swim here!!
