Story
York Marrow is a one of over 50 student-run organisations across the country that works closely with the charity Anthony Nolan to help save the lives of people with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Our committee and team of volunteers run regular donor recruitment events around campus and the city to recruit potential donors to the stem cell register in the hopes of finding a life-saving match for those in desperate need of a stem cell transplant.
Working with this charity has been one of the best things I have done during my time at University of York and I am excited to start my final year of university as President of York Marrow. Through Marrow and Anthony Nolan I have met so many inspirational people, from donors to recipients and everyone in between.
However, it costs £40 to add each potential lifesaver to the stem cell register and every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. I, therefore, will be attempting (!!!) to run a half marathon to raise funds for Anthony Nolan to continue its amazing lifesaving work. I hope you can join me in supporting this incredibly special organisation.
