Borne Arctic Challenge April 2018
Campaign by Borne (RCN 1167073)
A courageous trek to the North Pole led by Alan Chambers MBE to raise funds for vital research to prevent preterm birth, and give millions of children the chance of a full life, free of disability.

Story

In April of 2018 I will be trekking to the North Pole, enduring freezing temperatures in one of Earths most hostile environments. I’ll be taking up this challenge for a cause that can affect every single one of us - one that does not discriminate and has the power to change our lives forever.

Every year, 15 million families around the world are affected by the tragedy of preterm birth. 1 million babies born too soon each year die, and countless more are left with a lifetime of disability. Thats 60,000 babies in the UK. Too many families left heartbroken. And we do not know enough to stop it.

Only by focusing on research will we find the answers to the problems that too often accompany childbirth, and yet there is insufficient funding for pioneering new research to develop new treatments to prolong pregnancy, and to understand the causes of preterm birth, so that we can put a stop to this tragic and enormous level of loss.

As a sister, a daughter and potentially a future mother, this has the power to affect me, just as it has the power to affect you too. So please do give generously in support of this extreme challenge I am taking on, and for all of the unborn children who will benefit from Borne's ground-breaking research, and help give them the chance at the life they deserve.

Remember, if you are a UK tax payer, you can help maximise your donation by 25p for every £1 by selecting Gift Aid. So please do keep a look out for the option.
