Story
Bonjour bonjour,
On April 14th I will be running the Paris Marathon. I have always been a keen runner and still enjoy it to this day. However, my track history (pardon the pun) is hardly encouraging: weak joints (knees, hips and ankles), a weakness for a vodka tonic often paired with a cigarette… just to mention a few! However, the cigarettes have been stubbed out and the vape has been drawn.
My cousin Felix was born 14 weeks prematurely and was diagnosed
with cerebral palsy. To put it into perspective, at birth, he could fit into
the palm of your hand. Despite this, he is undoubtedly the funniest and most charismatic person I know. I can recall him only ever making one complaint, when he decided to become vegan and was given a plate of lentils…he refused to eat them.
‘Tommy’s, the baby charity’, funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth and provides pregnancy health information to
parents. On average 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year in the UK and 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Tommy’s helps to reduce these heart-breaking statistics.
I am therefore honoured to be able to run the marathon for them. Yes, it will be a large step up from my usual day to day activities, however it is an extremely worthy cause and any donation will be hugely appreciated. In the words of Mr Tesco: ‘Every Little Helps’.
