Thank you for visiting my page, I am so grateful to all those who will take the time to read my story.

I have been interested in most outdoor pursuits since I was young, I have taken up every challenge available to me, whether it be canoeing, climbing, abseiling down the lift tower, paragliding, snowboarding, expedtioning for days over remote mountains... you name, I've tried it!

I completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award over the years and now work leading the award at Quinton House School in Northampton. I am currently working on completing my ML. This is the ultimate job for me! Getting outside, travelling, achieving that feeling of accomplishment, not only when I reach a summit, but now the satisfaction of helping young people do the same.

As a teenager, I used to watch third world children on the TV and wish there was something I could do.... I never imagined my life would be as it is now....

I began volunteering as a Scout Leader in my local group nearly five years ago,  I met George (a strange coincidence we have the same name) and she began to tell of her visits and work in Uganda. I knew then, this was it. I immediately inquired if it was at all feasible for me to join her on her next trip..? she agreed. I was overjoyed, what an opportunity.... 5 months later, there we were, George, her husband Tony, my nephew Sam and my partner Adrian... in Uganda. I never imagined what was to happen next...

I couldn't stay away, on our return after a two week cram all you can trip of adventure, I was preparing our next visit. I fell in love with the people, children, even the slum in which the school our scout group has established. I had to do more....

I went on a 7 month crazed fundraising mission, visiting schools, churches, women's institutes...and arrived back, in Uganda the same year. Just the two of us. We gave all of the generously given money for the new building of a dormitory to Head-teacher Dismas (our now close friend). Money which was left went to individual children for their boarding fees. I was even lucky enough to meet 4 very generous and kind hearted ladies in Northampton (where I live) to sponsor individual, destitute children for their education, boarding, and living for the remainder of their school life.

After the second trip,  Adrian and I knew this was a place we would dedicate most of our spare time too. We have made lifelong friends and solid relations with rural communities and individuals, even those whose language is still a barrier.

We have funded all of our own travel from the onset, we always are open to our donators, and will continue to work with our Ugandan friends and communities. We are currently planning our fifth trip in February 2012

I have seen many desperate sights, scenes that we would see on TV up close and for real, I have smelt the reality of poverty and lived amongst the poorest of communities.

I am excited to embrace a challenge! ... Climbing to the summit of Kilimanjaro for the good of people in situations I have witnessed is the perfect motivation!

The summit of Kilimanjaro, the rooftop of Africa is our goal! Kilimanjaro is the tallest free standing mountain in the world and stands at 5,895m (19,340ft). Kibo the snow capped peak is one of the most recognisable sights in the world of adventure.

On 18th August 2012, we will leave the UK and attempt to climb Kilimajaro in aid of Practical Action. Our trek will follow the southwest Machame route to the summit, over the Shira Plateau and round the spectacular Southern Flank taking in the sight of the Lava Tower and the Barranco Wall.

Please visit practical action for further information on the work they do.

I will be personally paying for the cost of flights and expenses myself. The above total will ALL go to Practical action

Thank you
