Story
How would you feel if no one could understand you?
Or if society seemed completely against you?
We all know that neither feeling is pleasant. But what if it was your reality?
79% of autistic people feel socially isolated. Only 16% are in full-time employment.
And this September, big news came out - autism is genetic. This means autistic people are autistic for life.
Yet, while at least 700,000 autistic people live in the UK, a lot of us actually don’t know a lot about autism… and I was the same.
But starting my NHS placement within an autism assessment team has opened my eyes to something I had always heard of, but never looked into.
I still don’t know enough about autism - but I know I care. So this October 2026, I’m joining the National Autistic Society’s “100 Mile October” campaign.
This is my first fundraiser, and I admit I’m nervous! But I know that every bit helps.
Just £8 can help 50 autistic people find someone who understands.
£18 can help 100 autistic people advocate for the work adjustments they need.
If you can support, even £1 will help keep me going.
As a team, we can show autistic people that they’re not alone. Thank you 💜
