We challenge blind children & young adults to change perceptions of what is possible

Story

Thanks for donating to our chosen charity of choice this year.  VICTA.  A charity that helps blind or partially sighted children and young adults.

GFT Bootcamp likes a challenge so this year we thought we would put test our fitness skills on marathon running!!

Some of the bootcampers are runner but most of us venture no further than our yearly 10k muddy obstacle race.  So this year we decided to push ourselves outside our comfort zone and tackle a 26.2mile run around our home town of Framlingham.  We plan to have a course that will take in as many of the bootcampers houses, so friends and family can cheer us on as we pass.

For many of the bootcampers this will be their biggest  challenge to date and to do it in the comfort of our home town will give everyone the boost to complete it.

As we say at GFT bootcamp, 'training works best when it is shared'

About the charity

VICTA is a small but national charity in the UK that empowers children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted and their families. Aware that feelings of isolation and loneliness are dominant within the world of visual impairment, VICTA use activity-based learning as a positive setting for social interaction. For the blind and partially sighted young people, involvement in team-based activities can be positively associated with social acceptance and a sense of belonging, especially where such involvement is characterised by positive coaching, progressive skill development and peer support. VICTA work hard to help young people question limiting presumptions they might have, helping them to view themselves and their potential in a new way. VICTA want them to be able to make a difference to their own lives.
