GGTB for Prostate Cancer UK · 29 December 2021

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

A friend of mine is undertaking a monumental challenge of riding round the coast of Britain to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, and to support him in this epic ride I am taking on a smaller challenge of riding with him on one of his 100 mile legs of the journey,

Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in males in the UK and 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. If you’re over 50, or you’re black, or your dad or brother had it, you’re at even higher risk. Too often cases are discovered late so fewer men can benefit from early intervention. Screening for it can be seen as taboo so too many men ignore symptoms and risk factors due to embarrassment. This needs to change.

This is a cause close to my heart as my Uncle Stephen passed away from Prostate Cancer aged only 66 and I got on really well with him but never really had the chance to say goodbye which I regret to this day.
