This project is to provide safe water for the 400 person community of Asafokope in Ghana. Their current water source is unsafe, and is shared by domestic and wild animals.

Children and women walk long distances 3 times a day and collectively spend 75 hours every day looking for water. Diseases and serious illnesses are an ongoing problem, which can be addressed with a water bore-hole, that will provide a lifetime of safe water.

Children will be able to go to school, women will be able to spend more time farming and helping their husbands. Health and wellbeing will be greatly improved.

On Saturday 26th of March 2022 members and friends of the Rotary Clubs of Barnsley, Stainborough and Barnsley Rockley will be walking and carrying water in Locke Park, Barnsley for a collective time of at least 75 hours, to raise awareness of the value of a commodity which we take for granted. Also, importantly we need your help in raising the £5,000 that will provide the bore-hole and the training in use and maintenance. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
