Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son, Alfie, had a kidney removed shortly after birth. At present, urine is refluxing up into his remaining kidney and causing damage. The Children's Hospital are managing Alfie's condition and in response to this, he has written a short story detailing what it is like to visit the hospital as a patient, and how to fight monsters with newfound super powers. I believe this account, as told via the voice of an 8-year-old boy, to hopefully demystify and de-stigmatise the process of being catheterised and wearing a bag. It is his wish that this book shines a light on this experience and might help other kids in the same position, as well as to raise some much-needed funds for the service that has cared for him since birth.
Alfie's sister, Nancy, has provided some amazing illustrations too. What a team!
His mum and I couldn't be prouder and humbly ask that you give what you can afford, or even just share his book.
I'll be using my platform as a local musician to raise funds at Leopold Square in Sheffield 2-4:30pm, 21/08/2022 - it would be great for you to pop along, say hi to Alfie and dig deep to help the cause.
With my sincere gratitude and love,
Ryan
