Story

Stephen Healey, a close and honored friend, from the 1st Battalion the Royal Welsh was sadly killed in Afghanistan earlier this year. His partner, Thea, is completing something spectacular in his memory. She aims to run 415 miles in the next twelve months - 415, because Stephens was the 415th soldier to be killed in Afghanistan. In support of her amazing challenge, numerous friends will help her through her many full and half marathons that she plans to complete. The first event will be the Royal Parks half marathon on the 7th of October. As a trusted friend with time on his hands, I plan to run alongside her, raising money for Stephens chosen charity -Blind Veterans UK. I personally will have returned from my arid Afghan hovel I called home for six months, just ten days before. With an external perimeter of just five kms and an average temperature of 40 degrees, distance running has been well and truly off the agenda. You support in recognition of Thea’s superb sacrifice and my 12mile contribution would be much appreciated.
