Dirt Half · 13 November 2021

The Naval Cadet Corps is a local self-funded charity operated by volunteers in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire providing training, skills and leadership to 10-17 year old boys and girls based around the values and specialisations of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

Story

Thanks for taking a look at my fundraising event. On Saturday 13th November I will be running the Dirt Half - an off road half marathon (~21km) over paths, tracks, hills and muddy fields around the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border.

But that's a bit easy, isn't it... so to make it more interesting, I will be running as a Cadet Instructor in the equivalent to Royal Marines "Fighting Order" - that is in patrol boots and MTP uniform, with a rifle and 32lb (15kg) bergen as used in the Commando Selection Test.

But that's not the end ! Our Cadets were asked to vote on whether to make it even harder still for their Commanding Officer. Do you think they let me off lightly with wearing just my beret, or voted for a battle helmet ? Face Paint Camouflage, or not ?

I'll be completing this challenge to raise money for our two cadet training units TS INVINCIBLE (Bletchley) & TS OCEAN (Leighton Buzzard), operating as a self-funded Registered Charity, in order that we can continue to provide good quality training resources and accessible opportunities, as well as maintain our equipment and assets in serviceable condition (our trailer is falling apart !)

Thank you
