Lucille's Cycle for Superheroes · 21 May 2016

Without access to National Lottery funding and with only limited support from Government, we rely upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Essex and Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives. we can’t fly without you!

Story

Last summer, my dear friends Leonie, Lucille and Josephine Troke were involved in a horrific car accident and while the effects of that day has changed their lives forever, it is undoubtedly the rapid reaction of the Essex Air Ambulance that ensured that the family received the urgent medical attention that they required and ultimately saved Lucille’s life.

Time moves on and we continue to be amazed and inspired by this truly wonderful family’s ability to adapt and the positive outlook with which they approach life, facing new challenges with the courage and spirit that epitomizes the Troke’s.  Lucille is recovering well from her spinal injury and has adapted to her new life with courage, strength and determination that should serve as inspiration to us all – she is quite simply our little Superhero!

Essex Air Ambulance continues to operate as a charity and to express our deep gratitude for what they did for that fateful day, we have decided to take up ‘Lucille’s Superhero Challenge’ that will see me join an elite (!?!) team of cyclists traversing the lofty peaks of the Chiltern Hills to raise vital funds for Essex Air Ambulance.  The challenge is simple, get fit/less fat, cycle 100 km in one day and raise as much money as possible for the Essex Air Ambulance.  Did you know that each lift carried out by the air ambulance is estimated to cost around £2,400? Our target is to raise enough money to cover the cost of the life-saving care that they gave to Leonie and Lucille that day.

The Superhero’s will start and finish their challenge at the Troke’s residence in Wendover on 21st May 2016 and we will travel the length and breadth of the Chilterns with Lucille ensuring a hero’s welcome.  Additional Superhero’s are welcome (even if you only want to do a small part of the ride) and any support will be much appreciated.  If sufficient funds are raised, the team has agreed to don Superhero outfits and suggestions are welcome with each donation….!

Please donate to this amazing cause and pass this message on to anybody that you think might like to sponsor this event.

Thank you.
