Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 14th September, I will be swimming 10km down the River Dart for the Samaritans. Whilst this not a very long way on land, I am told that it is a rather long swim and it has been helpfully pointed out to methat there is nowhere to rest! At present the thought of it makes me feel a little ill! However myself and my training partner have put a lot of hours in and I am sure we will make it despite the jelly fish and father time.

Why the Samaritans? As someone who has spent most of their life on "send" I admire and respect those with the skill of listening and as I have got older I have realised that at some stage in our lives, especially the darker moments we all need to someone to to talk to. Most of the time we walk away from these moments comforted by the words of friends and family. Not everyone is able to call upon a network of confidence and in extremis their options are limited. Samaritans provides, for want of a better phrase, a shoulder to cry on that at least allows people to know that they have been listened to. I firmly belive that everyone deserves at least that.
