Brighton marathon 2011 · 10 April 2011
I was six years old when my Mother, Brenda, died from Leukaemia, I don't really remember all that much about her, but over the years I have been able to gather, with the help of friends and family, a wealth of memories, that have aloud me to know her better, than perhaps I would have done, were she still alive
At the time of her death my mother was an active local councillor in the East Sussex area, who often spoke up on behalf of Leukaemia sufferers regarding the need for extra funding for research and treatment.
She took her fight to the Prime Minister at the time, Margaret Thatcher, who aloud her to voice her concerns at a Conservative party Conference in Brighton.
Her strength of will and determination have made a lasting impression on me and have inspired me over the years to pursue the things that are important to me.
One of those things is to be an active fundraiser for Leukaemia research, and I hope that my participation in the 2011 Brighton Marathon will not only help to raise awareness for this amazing charity but also raise some much needed funds.
