Story

following my stag do in April 2019 I phoned my friend Richard to see if he had recovered from the stag do. After a bit of chat he told he had some news. He had been given the news he had testicular cancer. I was in the car and had to pull over. I couldn’t believe my ears It was only a few days since we were laughing and drinking to then hear this terrible news got to me.

I met Richard at work and he was my surveyor on pretty much most of the jobs we had and we got promoted to more senior rolls at the same time. We are close friends and speak most days. He is a fantastic bloke and a great friend to me not to mention now a great Dad after him and his partner Tessa had a little boy in August while he has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

During his chemotherapy treatment a local Plymouth charity Dash of Silver supports men with group meet ups and care packages to make their treatment a little more comfortable. Richard told me about this and got me thinking what could I do to help? Well I like to run so why not take myself out my comfort zone of road running and start trail running and go for some ULTRA MARATHON runs. So I have signed up for one in February the Endurancelife South Devon Ultra
http://www.endurancelife.com/southdevon
the 2nd in April 3rd on in July and 4th September 2020. These are 30 miles plus along all sorts of conditions. This will definitely test my physical and mental strength but also will help raise funds to keep providing care packages to men during treatment. So please a lot of you also know Richard and as dash of silver says if it isn’t me it could be you.
