Christopher Horn was an exceptionally talented trumpet player, who died at the age of 25, having suffered from depression. During his relatively short career, he played with groups such as the London Sinfonietta, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonia. Up until the time of his death Chris had been working as guest principal trumpet with The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Chris's passion for music was heightened during two formative years as principal trumpet with The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. During his time with the orchestra, Chris co-founded a chamber ensemble - Onyx Brass. Chris made many friends whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the Royal Academy of music, and whilst playing in the European Union Youth Orchestra, Onyx Brass and the many other professional ensembles. Tragically in July 1999, Chris took his own life. The Trust was set up in his memory and supports young brass players in the advancement of their studies.

Story

Chris Horn was my brother who tragically took his own life in 1999.  He was 25 at the time of his death.  Not a day goes by when I don’t think of him.

I took up running in October 2019 when I joined a couch to 5km group. 8 weeks later I ran my first 5km at our local parkrun.  By February 2020 I was up to 12km! Determined to work hard over the next few months and get to being 13 miles ready for October.

The Christopher Horn Trust does an amazing job of supporting young brass musicians and keeps Chris in people’s memories.

Please support me in raising funds for a charity very close to my heart. Xxxxxxxx
