Story
Over 80,000 in Edinburgh are currently living in poverty and the use of food banks across Scotland is increasing. Edinburgh City Mission are generous providers of an inclusive network of Basics Banks food banks across Edinburgh. By the end of 2018 they had provided emergency food to individuals over 8,000 times. Edinburgh City Mission has a vision to grow this work to meet demand. As a Christian charity Edinburgh City Mission is able to offer more than temporary relief from hunger; they aim to support the poorest people in the city by befriending and supporting individuals through Life Skills courses, debt advice and practical help - building deeper self-respect and self-esteem, reducing isolation and loneliness, growing confidence skills and equipping individuals to integrate into community life.
This is my first (and likely last!!!) half marathon. The training has been significant (as a core cyclist - I'm NOT a runner) and very time consuming. Thank you to my family for letting me pound the miles required - I'm not there yet, still training to go!!
Every penny raised will be donated to Edinburgh City Mission - I have paid my own entry fee. Please GiftAid if you are a tax payer also.
