I am taking part in the Marie Curie Inca Trail Trek and am hoping to raise £3,750 for the charity in remembrance of my mum, Enid Butterfield.

My beloved mum passed away in June of this year after a 39 year battle with Cancer, and throughout her life I have come to realise the importance of Marie Curie's services not only to the patient but to the family as well.

Marie Curie was a wonderful support to my mum and to us all, throughout the final difficult months, and for that reason, I have agreed to take part in the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. The trek is almost 50 miles in length and much of it is over gruelling terrain and steep ascents - the thought of which terrify me (I'm not exactly great with heights)! But I know it will be worth it and when I reach the summit I will feel a sense of achievement, not only for my dear mum, but for other Marie Curie patients who the donations will help.
