Story
Thank you for visiting our family page in memory of our wonderful Mum, Mary. It is here that we are asking for donations instead of flowers for Sarcoidosis UK.
On Sunday 27th February 2022,Mum passed away at home with family by her side, and whilst we are all heartbroken we take comfort in knowing Mum is now at peace.
The charity we have chosen will not be familiar to many people, and we thought we would take a little time to explain why we have chosen this particular one. Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease which can affect various organs of the body, and Mum was diagnosed with this condition 15 years ago. In Mum`s cause this disease caused issues with her vision which caused inflammation of the choroid (Uveitis) which can result in vision loss. Thanks to the excellent care of The Bristol Eye hospital this was not the case for Mum and her condition was safely managed.
As this disease is very rare as a family we found the support of Sarcoidosis UK invaluable, as in addition to funding research to find a cure they also provide on line, telephone and advice support. This permitted us to understand the disease and at times assisted us to advocate for Mum with professionals, who were not always as well versed with this disease as they could have been.
Therefore it seems only right and fitting that if you wish to remember Mum by a way of a donation, then you make this to this wonderful charity.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of our story, and for donating in memory of our amazing Mum.
