Story

Staff at St Monica's RCHS and friends are raising money by walking up Ben Nevis in memory of Ben O'Shea

Ben O’Shea passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family on the afternoon of Tuesday, 3rd September 2013.  He had been ill for some time, but had attended school whenever he could.

Ben was a model pupil; he was a bright, warm-hearted, hardworking, friendly, happy boy who was always smiling.  He was unfailingly polite and he never complained or felt sorry for himself.  He bore his illness with enormous courage and a fortitude which belied his tender years.  Our school was blessed to have had him with us even for such a short time and he will be remembered with a great deal of love and affection by staff and pupils alike.

The staff of St Monica’s will be putting on their climbing boots in order to tackle Ben Nevis on Sunday 4th May this year, in the hope of raising money for the Young Oncology Unit, Christie Hospital, where Ben was cared for. Please contribute whatever you can for this deserving cause. Thank you.
