After many years I have finally secured a place in the London Marathon this October! I gained my place through the special school that I teach at as a means to inspire pupils and students to be more active. Green Park School is an all age special school that caters for children and young adults with severe, complex and profound special educational needs. I will be using my marathon place to raise money to support the delivery of physical activity both in and out of school. Physical activity and sport is so important to each and every learner at Green Park School as not only does sport support a healthy lifestyle, it also might support pupil regulation, physiotherapy, social skills and community engagement. Monies raised will be used to fund exciting resources and support community participation in sporting events. Its going to be an exciting journey and everyone at Green Park school will be encouraged to celebrate physical activity and sport as I train for the biggest marathon event!
