Story

Hello  👋

I am swimming in  memory of my friends Carol, Ros and Bobby  who prematurely lost their beautiful lives to a brain tumour before they reached 55 yrs , leaving behind  families who had to rebuild their lives without their loved  ones. .  This is also for those suffering today with the disease and the impact it’s having on them and their families’ lives.

Funds are vital to raise awareness of the symptoms of brain tumours for early treatment.  Research into new treatments aims to  double survival rates and  improve the quality of life of those living with  a brain tumour.

I am fortunate to have the encouragement of Iain McLean, part of The Brain Tumour charity's Scottish Steering Committee, whose beloved son Duncan died just aged 20   from Glioblastoma multiform (GBM) six years ago within two days of being diagnosed.    This has given me renewed energy and motivation to continue to do what I can to prevent other families from losing loved ones in the future.

Every donation  is a step forward to eradicating this disease.  Please give what you can today - every £10 helps.

Thank you so much, Gilly x

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
