5 Triathlons in 5 days · 29 June 2020

The Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation was set up in 2012 with the aim to raise funds to support a charitable project each year that is close to the heart of the Wasps Legends teams. Wasps Legends are former players who participate in a number of activities with the sole aim of raising funds.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am part of an amazing group of rowers at Oxford Brookes University. We would normally be at the peak of our  racing season and about to start Henley Royal Regatta. However, due to COVID-19, like many other events, this has been cancelled.

My rowing coach, Richard Chambers (former Olympic silver medallist and double World Champion), has challenged each member of our team to go above and beyond this week and, in the spirit of Henley, to push to our limits. I have challenged myself to complete 5 Olympic triathlons in 5 days (from the 29th June -3rd July).

I would like to use this as an opportunity to raise awareness and money for School Of Hard Knocks, My Name5 Doddie Foundation, and The Change Foundation-  through Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, charities very close to my heart through a club that has been part of my family for over 40 years.

Sport is so powerful and can be used in so many positive ways, which is exactly what School Of Hard Knocks does. They use sport to help tackle unemployment, crime and poor health for both children and adults, whilst at the same time teaching them positive values and behaviours, which in turn gives them a sense of self-worth, self-efficiency and hopefulness for their futures.

My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was launched in 2017 by Doddie Weir OBE, one of Scotland’s most successful and loved rugby players, as he was intent on helping other sufferers of MND. The charity aims to raise funds for research into the causes of MND and investigate potential cures. It’s also makes grants to sufferers of MND and enables them to live as fulfilled a life as possible which is just incredible!

The Change Foundation again uses the power of sport and dance to create lasting change in the lives of young people. They deliver targeted long-term interventions for the most vulnerable young people through Coach Mentors with lived experience, providing regular sport and personalised mentoring. Sports truly brings happiness and family to everyone.

I would be so thankful for any donation you can make regardless how small, taking into consideration the challenging  times we are all experiencing :)
