Story
Hi, my name is Giorgio Liessi-Pimm and I'm from East Yorkshire. After finishing my A-Levels, I decided I wanted to spend more time helping people in need before going to University. As such, I'm thrilled to say I will be joining VSO in June on an International Citizen Service (ICS) 10-week placement to Bangladesh.
ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long-term community development.
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £1500 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
In order to do this, I need your help! To go outside my comfort zone, I'm going to attempt to climb the three highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. This will be a gruelling challenge that will require great strength and persistence - neither of which I currently have!
VSO are extremely committed to fighting poverty; their work so far has improved access to education for 900,000 people, and improved food and income for 165,000 people, making it clear that your donations will be very much effective.
Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated and will play a part in making a real difference to the lives of real people in developing countries.
You can also donate by texting GALP60 £5 to 70070
Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
Sincerely,
Giorgio :)
