Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity providing free services. Every year, their services cost £9.1 million to run, three quarters coming from the local community. They rely on fundraising, donations and volunteers to keep them going.
Laura and Jane have had hands on experience with the hospice, with both Laura's parents spending their final days there, most recently her father in February. They were so wonderfully caring and kind and also so supportive to her which gave her so much strength and comfort through such an incredibly hard and emotional time and likewise with Jane with her mother who was cared for at her home by the hospice nurses receiving the same support as you would receive in the hospice.... "they were like angels in the night"....
Michelle is doing the midnight walk to raise money and awareness for the Hospice and also to make people aware of the other amazing services that the Hospice provide:
"My daughter Lucy is severely disabled and attends the day centre twice a month. Lucy's daily activities are restricted due to the extent of her disability so attending the hospice is a welcome relief. The care, understanding and support both myself and Lucy receive is second to none. Lucy's support worker and Dr recently helped us through a devastating time, we thought that we would lose her and without their support our emotional recovery would have been very different I'm sure. I can't thank them enough for their support and guidance. So as you can imagine this is a charity close to my heart. So walking to raise money is I think the least I can do"
