Story
I have been running for nearly two years now, I started off with not being able to run a mile without wanting to stop. Along the way I have run from 5K’s to 10K’s for British heart foundation, Cancer research & Diabetes Awareness and more. So I thought it was time to step up and take on the challenge of a Half Marathon. I have been training very hard as you are all probably aware off via my Facebook running notifications, that’s if by now you have not blocked them, but it’s all for a good cause…!
A few years ago we lost our dog due to her getting very old. She was part of the family and when she died I couldn’t think of any other dog making me feel that way again, my mum said about getting another dog which I was not too pleased about from Battersea Dogs/Cats Home, that she had already seen.
I went along just to see if we should take her as I didn’t think it was right bringing another dog in to our home, when we got there and waited in the room for the dog to come in, the door opened and this tiny very slim dog with huge ears came running in and I fell in love with her instantly. I will never forget my old dog, but Sammy is just an addition to our family, it’s not about replacing it was about giving an unwanted dog a wanted home.
I have always said that Animals have no voice, they can't ask for help, ask for freedom or ask for protection. The job that Battersea Dogs/Cats Home does for animals, which have not had the best start in life or best life is amazing. Personally I feel that animals need help just as much as we do but the difference is they can’t stand up and ask for it, so I am running on behalf of Battersea Dogs/Cats Home to say thank you for looking after Sammy before she found her rightful home & to all the other animals, giving them a chance at a better life.
