Story
Thank you for taking your time to visit this page.
In 2015, my father (Graham) suffered from a major stroke, this caused him to have to re-learn how to do basic things such walking and talking. After he had been in hospital for a length of time, he was ready to start the rehabilitation process.
Papworth offered him the opportunity to move into Papworth Everard (a large village built to help in the rehabilitation process of many injuries/disabilities) for 6 months. During his time at Papworth, my dad was able to regain his independence, they helped with physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, all free of charge.
This gave my dad a new lease of life, not only was he able to move back into his home, he now had a new mentality. He decided to dedicate himself to helping others, whether he was at a local fair, talking to people or protesting for what he believed in, he was trying to add some more good into the world.
On December 1st 2016, my father passed away due to complications during an operation. Whilst I am still struggling to come to terms with this, I can be thankful that Papworth allowed my dad to believe in himself again for the last few years, and that happiness and warmth lives with me every day.
Anything you can donate to this great cause would be appreciated.
Thank you, Harrison x
