We target what’s important to stop ovarian cancer devastating lives. We're the only ovarian cancer charity working across all four nations of the UK. We work with everyone affected by ovarian cancer and health professionals to ensure we target the areas that matter most for them.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is not my story, but my sister, Treena's  story:

On the morning of 14th November 2022 she received the call we'd been dreading. After a series of tests and scans, she was diagnosed with Stage 4B high grade serous ovarian cancer with signs that the disease had spread to her lymph nodes and other areas in her abdomen.

I knew nothing about ovarian cancer and had no idea what the symptoms are. She had a bloated tummy, a cough and fatigue. The cough and tiredness was put down to work and the bloated tummy, possibly IBS or a gluten intolerance from eating far too much delicious pasta in Sicily.

There’s no screening for ovarian cancer and it’s not lifestyle related. It’s not a cancer you read much about and googling to search for information and advice returned scary results and stats, but then she found @targetovarian and connected with others that are facing the same battle. It has provided invaluable advice over the last few months and been a source of reassurance, hope and support.

On Sunday May 28th I will be participating in @ridelondon and cycling 100 miles from the Embankment in London, through the city, into Essex and back, finishing on Tower Bridge. I am riding for @targetovarian as my chosen charity.

If you’re able to support @targetovarian - any donation, however small – every penny raised will help fund life saving research; help raise awareness; help fund the support it gives to women with ovarian cancer; and it will help save lives

There are many women with stories like my sisters. She has been lucky and although her cancer was advanced, the diagnosis was quick and the treatment has gone well.

Sadly there’s far too many women who are not so lucky.

Thank you for reading.
