Bottom Line Up Front:
Global Adventure, a non-profit charity, needs financial and equipment partners to help sponsor a film project to share our ethos to a wider audience. Peru's Inca Trail provides a majestic backdrop to a story of adventure, brotherhood and risk.
In the past ten years I’ve talked to thousands of men around the U.S. and Europe, and I’ve found a couple different themes:
This is truly a crisis of manhood. And it has ripple effects through society: these feelings mean we have men who don’t know how to be dads, don’t know how to be brothers, and don’t know how to treat women
The statistics back that up:
Why?
It’s my belief that young men are missing out on a traditional initiation. And following that, they lack a strong bond of brotherhood. For thousands of years, traditional cultures have had a rite of passage where their boys have been tested and felt the weight and responsibility of manhood. And thereafter, men banded together in groups where they shared life and were challenged and active: tribes, hunting parties, legions, regiments, fraternities.
We’re missing that today. And that’s where Global Adventure comes in. This nonprofit charity that takes men and fathers & sons into the wilderness and into challenging situations, and uses these experiences to test men, to minister to their hurts, and to help them develop their relationships between friends and families.
We are especially excited for the next mission for Global Adventure: we are taking a team of men on expedition across Peru’s Inca Trail, culminating at the mysterious and majestic ruins of Machu Piichu. During this trip, we are going explore the themes of brotherhood and initiation. We will delve into what it means to be a man: a son, a brother, a father, a husband. And we will do this under the backdrop and physical challenge of what some call the greatest trail in the world. We have the opportunity to film a professional short film to highlight these themes and inspire thousands of young men undertake a rite of passage of their own.
A professional video won’t come cheap, so we’re asking for your support. This video will have the ability to break down barriers and to introduce this message to many more men and boys around the world… and we truly believe it will have a far-reaching impact on their lives. Please partner with Global Adventure to make this project happen. We can accept tax-deductible donations in the US, and donations in the UK can include gift-aid. We are also looking for equipment sponsors to
help outfit our team.
