Story
Our lovely friend Glyn died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 42 in May this year. He had been planning to run the London Marathon in October to raise funds for the Family Holiday Charity, having previously run the marathon 21 years ago.
Glyn's friend Miguel Mariscal will be running in his place on Sunday 2nd October and we hope to raise even more money in his memory. For those who want to cheer Miguel on on the day the Family Holiday Charity will have cheer spots at mile 6 and around mile 24 - we’d love to see you there! You’ll also be able to track Miguel’s progress on the day via the marathon app.
More about Family Holiday Charity
FHC give children and families who may never have had a holiday the chance to experience these types of new and happy experiences that most of us are fortunate enough to have had in our lives. When he signed up for the marathon, Glyn was asked why he wanted to support this particular charity - FHC shared his response:
"I grew up in a single parent family with a disabled parent, so I know what it's like not to be able to take holidays when you are young, whether that be for financial reasons, or other barriers to travel. Despite not being able to go on holidays growing up, I was lucky enough to grow up on the coast, and so was still able to 'escape' to the beach without any real thought. I can appreciate the huge respite difference that a short holiday can give, especially to a family with additional pressures, or from an inner-city environment."
Any amount you give, big or small, is much appreciated. Thank you x
