For me running the London Marathon is about dispelling the stigma that surrounds epilepsy, raising awareness of a misunderstood condition and raising money for a great charity.

Epilepsy is one of the most common serious neurological conditions in the world. It affects 600,000 people in the UK. This means that 1 in 100 people have epilepsy. Around 87 people are diagnosed in the UK every day. Epilepsy Action helps those who are diagnosed with epilepsy and their families.

As many of you will know, epilepsy is something that has affected the lives of my own family. We still struggle massively with this diagnosis but at the same time we help Alex to understand whilst it is a small part of who he is it does not define 'who' he is. The last 6 years have been a difficult and very frustrating time for us all, as we watched for triggers, dealt with seizures, and strived to find the right medication to control it. 

I have set up a Just Giving page with the aim of raising money so this charity can continue to help deliver support and guidance to others who need it. However big or small, every donation gives hope, peace of mind and support to people affected by epilepsy.
