Story
Hello Im Abi Poole, 20 years old and I farm alongside my dad between Whitby and Scarborough!
My dad has farmed all of his life but very sadly, 14 years ago he was diagnosed with MS.
Multiple Sclerosis.
It’s a condition that attacks your nervous system leaving parts severely damaged rendering some muscles unable to work and others weakened
My dad now manages to get round the farm with a scooter and has had a special lift made, so he can still get in the tractor.
There is yet no cure for MS or nothing stopping its progression.
Sadly it’s becoming more and more common.
This is why I decided to run the great north run half marathon, to raise awareness of the effects of the condition on the sufferers and their families and raise funds to To Put towards finding a cure or reverse it’s damage.
Love abs x
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm running the 2023 Great North Run, to support the work of the MS Society. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move, think and feel.More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and its symptoms. The MS Society is here to help everyone live well with MS.Every year they reach thousands of people with help and support through their MS Helpline and local groups. They campaign on the issues that matter most to the MS community. And they invest in ground-breaking research to stop MS in its tracks.Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
