Story

If someone had told me 2 years ago that I would be attempting to run a marathon 2 weeks after my 37th birthday I would have thought they were crazy...or drunk. But here we are - 6 pub quizzes, a 10k, an abseil and a firewalk later - I'm about to take on the biggest challenge yet. I've been training hard and what has been pushing me through recently are all the reports of the terrible lack of mental health care provision and understanding in Scotland - children, young people, new parents, anxiety disorders, loneliness, stress... SAMH continue to do vital work in all these areas but they need more help. More GPs need to be trained, more people need access to support regardless of where they live, and more needs to be done to challenge stigma. This is my 2015 big push, not only in memory of my lovely friend Pam, but for all of us - we never know when we'll need to reach out. Let's make it easier...
Right, better stop greetin' and get my trainers on. Thank you so much for amazing sponsorship - wish me luck!
